Denise has been involved in aquaculture for about 20 years. She has been educating people about marine conservation and aquaculture since 2012 and continues to do so to this day. She has worked all over the world with a large range of different species, including sea weed, micro algae, lobsters, shrimp, clownfish, salmon, mussels, crayfish, kingfish, amberjacks, grouper and many more. She has worked in RAS, in large flow through systems and offshore aquaculture. Denise is passionate about the environment and about aquaculture.

Stuart Barnes - NZ King Salmon

Fish Health & Biosecurity Biologist, New Zealand King Salmon
Stuart Barnes has spent more than 20 years working in aquaculture across Scotland and New Zealand. After completing a Bachelor of Technology in Aquaculture at the University of Aberdeen, he gained experience in both trout and Atlantic salmon farming before cycling from Scotland to New Zealand, where he joined New Zealand King Salmon. For the past 12 years, Stuart has worked as a Fish Health & Biosecurity Biologist, helping protect fish health and strengthen biosecurity across farming operations. In this course, Stuart shares practical insights into building a strong biosecurity culture and the importance of early reporting and effective communication.

Rachel Hooks - MPI

Biosecurity Incursion Investigator, Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI)
Rachel is an Incursion Investigator in the Aquatic Health Team at Biosecurity New Zealand, MPI, where she has worked for the past four and a half years. After studying Marine Biology at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington, she joined MPI through the Graduate Development Programme. Her background in fisheries science and biosecurity policy, together with a lifelong passion for kaimoana and the sea, underpins her commitment to aquatic biosecurity. In this course, Rachel shares practical insight into what happens when a biosecurity concern is reported, how the investigation process works, and why early reporting can make such an important difference.

"Will I be able to access this course after I have completed it?"

Yes, after purchasing a course you will have unlimited access for a period of 2 years.

"Will I be able to re-take the quizzes?" 

Your first try should be your best try. If you do not pass the first attempt you will get an opportunity for 1 retake where you will be able to get a maximum of 50%. You can re take the quizzes indefinitely after that however your best score from your first 2 attempts will be what counts.
